Welcome Mini Pommers at Monarch High
Mary had me sign her up for a Mini Pom Clinic.  She pestered me to make sure I sent the check in (for $35- it is a 4-hour dance routine/cheerleading instruction, T-shirt, pom-poms and the chance to perform at a high school football game at half-time.)  The Clinic was Saturday, October 13 and the game will be on Friday, October 19.

We were handed the flyer for this Mini Pom Clinic while watching the Monarch High School cheerleaders go by.  At that time, we were standing on the sidewalk with one of Mary’s friends from daycare and her family.  Sarah, the little girl, says that she wanted to do this Clinic so Mary wanted to do it, too.

I learned that this is the reason why Mary wanted to do it so badly— she thought Sarah was doing it too.  I learned this on our way to the Monarch High School gymnasium when I was taking her to the Clinic.  Yes, she has succumbed to peer pressure.  It is the good type — the type that I hope she would encounter a lot more than the other type. I warned her that Sarah may not be at the Clinic, after all, since for me, at that time at the Labor Day Parade, it did not sound like she was going.  But, Mary thought she would.

At first, Mary was very shy with the other five-year-olds (the Clinic was open for girls 5-13 and they have grouped them by age) and the high school girls that were instructing them.  But, she stayed, listened to the older girls, did her best to follow the routine. I guess, she really wanted to do this.

By 5:30 pm, when Jack and I came to pick her up, she was dancing along, having a great time.  It helped that she got singled out with a little prize for “smiling.”
