Pinay mom parenting her Caucasian/Filipino daughter in suburban America.
Dear Parents,Help! Our Turkeys are trying to disguise themselves so they don’t get caught for Thanksgiving Dinner! Please help your child disguise his/her turkey and send it back to school as soon as possible for our hallway bulletin board display!(Some examples from previous years are to disguise your turkey as Spiderman, Superman, a soldier, Santa, a girl, etc.)Thank you,
Mrs. A
The note above came home with Mary Friday, stapled to an 18″ turkey cut-out. Oh, goody! Homework for Mommy.
Fast forward to Sunday.
“Mommy, let’s do my turkey.”
“Ok, what would you like? How would we disguise your turkey?”
“A princess?”
“A princess? How about a gypsy?”
“Yes, a gypsy!…. What’s a gypsy?”
“Uhhh…. (how do you explain a gypsy????!!!!, me and my big mouth) Never mind, let’s not do a gypsy…”
“Ok, a ballerina!”
So, a ballerina it is. Here is the finished product.
Presenting, Turkey Ballerina on Steroids……

Mary is my "I'm Not a Baby!" daughter and this is my blog about her and our life in suburban America. Parenting tales, our travels and travails, forays into great and not-so-great restaurants, kitchen adventures--- all chronicled with as much photos as you can stand. Comments are very much appreciated --- let me know you dropped by! Thank you.

That is a hilarious idea. Do you think the kids even get it? “Mommy, why does my turkey not want anyone to know he is a turkey?” I love the ballerina turkey. A+ on your homework, mom!

Bad news…. “homework for mommy” continues for many years to come. Thankfully, we quickly move past disguised turkeys!

This is way cute!
and, oh gosh, yes, homework for mommy continues. Have they hit you with volunteer duty yet? I think our elem. school wouldn’t function without all the Moms who volunteer. They help in the office, in the library, in the cafeteria, fund raising, playground, etc etc

What a fun project idea. (Except at 5 years old, obviously it is the mommy who does the work.) You did a great job! Unfortunately for Dallin, I am not so creative, so he really turns in work that is HIS. You should have seen his collage compared to the other kids. All the animals were put in straight rows, none touching. So Dallin!
