Pinay mom parenting her Caucasian/Filipino daughter in suburban America.
My little sister, though she is not so little anymore, is on her own in a faraway country. She would be spending Christmas, New Year’s and her birthday, away from all she holds dear, including our parents and everything that is familiar.
She is also burdened by thoughts and recriminations of failed relationships and oh, so many regrets.
I wish for her to take a walk with me and live in the moment.

I wish for her to let go of the past, stop the soul-searching, stop thinking of what-could-have-been or what-could-I-have-done or WHAT-DID-I-DO-WRONG.
I wish for her to enjoy NOW, appreciate where she is., Look around you, my dear little sister, you’ve come a long way. Be proud of yourself, you are fine just the way you are, RIGHT NOW.

This is my entry to Wish: A Writing Project. Enjoy! Will y’all take a walk with me?
Mary is my "I'm Not a Baby!" daughter and this is my blog about her and our life in suburban America. Parenting tales, our travels and travails, forays into great and not-so-great restaurants, kitchen adventures--- all chronicled with as much photos as you can stand. Comments are very much appreciated --- let me know you dropped by! Thank you.

this post reminded me of a similar/challenging phase i went thru when i lived/worked overseas years ago. i was lucky to have the love and support of those dear to me, but in the end, i realized that there was no one who could help me bring the kind of (positive) changes i wanted in life but myself. enlightenment came late (i was very stubborn!) but it did! i know, in time, your sister will rise above all this. i wish that your wish for her would come true. i also wish that your entry wins the writing project prize
warmest regards from the philippines.
