Pinay mom parenting her Caucasian/Filipino daughter in suburban America.
We dropped off Stepd at the airport today. She’s on her way back to California, where she works right by Beverly Hills. She moved from Colorado right after college graduation and is finding her own way in the big, wide world out there.
Mary cried all the way from the airport back to our house.
“My heart breaked.”
“This is the saddest day of my life.”
“Has anyone seen her airplane?”
What do you do to console this little girl?
Jack wanted to pick up some organic chicken broth from Costco (great value for a 6-pack at $8.99), so he asked Mary if we can get her something fun from there.
“Nothing will make me feel better.”
“All I want is my sister.”
Hugs, hands touching across the car, we could not do much for her except tell her that she can be sad as long as she want. After all, she loves her sister very much. They are exactly 20 1/2 years apart and they both have just such love and regard for each other. I’m proud and thankful for this.
Mary made me promise her that we WILL see her sister soon.
California here we come…
In the summer some time, not soon enough for the little one…
Mary is my "I'm Not a Baby!" daughter and this is my blog about her and our life in suburban America. Parenting tales, our travels and travails, forays into great and not-so-great restaurants, kitchen adventures--- all chronicled with as much photos as you can stand. Comments are very much appreciated --- let me know you dropped by! Thank you.
