If I, at least, got a good photo.

I was driving back from dropping Mary off at Kindergarten and I was marvelling at the snow-covered Longs Peak and its surrounding foothills.   Yes, more snow… But, I have not gotten a good picture of the foothills when it was snow-covered like it was this morning.  Why not find a good vantage point, get some photos?  Yes, why not? I was on my way to the gym and I remember that there is a road behind it that leads up to a hill— on top, I should be able to take a good picture.

The roads were not ideal.  Especially, going up this hill, the street is winding and only one lane (the one going up the hill) seemed to be the only side that had been traversed by a snow plow and sanded.  Not a problem going up… but I have to descend on the way back, might be a little slippery.

No matter, I got to the top — it’s the parking lot for one of the bigger companies here in Louisville.  Some lucky employees there gets a really good view of the mountains.  I pulled into the parking lot, did not want to get out of my car as it is 22F so I just took a few shots.

Then, I made my SLOW and VERY CAREFUL way back down the hill.  I got to the bottom, safely (Thank God!), took a left turn.  Then, I realized I should not have made that turn.  No matter, I knew where the road was leading to and where I could double-back to get to the gym.

The roads were for the most part, snow-covered.  A few lanes plowed.  Sidewalks, vacant lots were all white, have to pay speciall attention to see where the road is.  The road I was on, widened and next thing I knew, I WAS ON THE WRONG LANE.  I was driving towards oncoming traffic!!!  Beyond the intersection, I saw the cars that would be where I am when the light turns Green.  A few car turned towards me but there was another lane on my left so I did not block traffic.

Luckily, I was able to make a right turn off this lane before the light turned.  Traffic was light.  So, I was OK.

But I really did not need this adventure this morning.  I would have been perfectly alright if I missed it altogether.  But I wanted to take pictures.

Think they’re worth it?

How far would you go to take a good picture?
