Pinay mom parenting her Caucasian/Filipino daughter in suburban America.

At today’s exchange rate, PHP 10 equals to about 22 cents US.
Aside from the burger being sold at the store above, what else can Mary get for 10 pesos nowadays?

A serving of these saging na saba (a kind of plantain or cooking bananas) in syrup with tapioca pearls (a serving = 2 bananas with 3 spoonfuls of syrup and tapioca)
Mary did not have any…
Her mom loves it.

Two of these egg rolls.
Mary did not have any.
Her mom bought four. Just for herself.

Five pieces of pan de sal (breakfast rolls).

One blue and one pink cotton candy… or 2 of the pink… or 2 of the blue. Or you can just get one of either color and 5 pesos sukli (change).

A 7 oz. serving of taho (soft tofu) in syrup with tiny tapioca pearls.

Five of these. Mary’s playmates (her second cousins) call them “komang.” Sold in the streets, as pets for kids. Can anybody tell me what they’re called in English?

One of these little chickies.

Mary’s cousins got her a pink one.
Mary is my "I'm Not a Baby!" daughter and this is my blog about her and our life in suburban America. Parenting tales, our travels and travails, forays into great and not-so-great restaurants, kitchen adventures--- all chronicled with as much photos as you can stand. Comments are very much appreciated --- let me know you dropped by! Thank you.

I would eat all of that. I’m pretty sure. Except for the hermit crabs. Definitely pets.
